JKT Tanzania: Serving Your Nation (Volunteer Program)
History of JKT:
The JKT program was established in 1964 by Law No. 16 (National Service Act) and revised in 2002 (section 3[1]). It provides Tanzanian youth with the opportunity to volunteer and serve their country.
Who Can Join?
Citizenship: Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
Age:
Primary education: 18-27 years old
Secondary education (Form Four): Completed between 2021-2023, must be under 20 years old
Secondary education (Form Six): Completed between 2021-2023, must be under 22 years old
Diploma or university degree: Under 26 years old
Masters university degree: Under 27 years old
Character: No criminal record.
Identification: Valid National Identification (NIDA) card.
Birth Certificate: Required.

Who Cannot Join?
Currently serving in military or police.
Previously attended JKT or similar programs.
Commitment: Once selected, there is no returning home during training.
What to Bring:
Males: Two pairs of dark blue elastic pants and shirts with white collars.
Females: Two sets of a similar uniform with a skirt.
Sports shoes (preferably white) and sandals.
Two pairs of blue or white socks.
Light blanket or bedsheet.
Important Dates:
Reporting: Selected volunteers for 2024 will report to camps between November 1st and 3rd, 2024.
Confirmation: Confirm participation at your district or regional office.
Beyond Service:
Job Opportunities: After service, you may be considered for positions in the police, government, or various sectors through JKT's life skills training.
