PUBLIC NOTICE ON CAP PRICES FOR PETROLEUM PRODUCTS EFFECTIVE WEDNESDAY, 7TH AUGUST 2024
Tanzanian motorists will feel the pinch at the pump as fuel prices have increased effective August 7th, 2024.
The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) has announced new price caps for August, reflecting a slight upward adjustment compared to the previous month. In Dar es Salaam, petrol will now cost up to 3,231 shillings per liter, while diesel is capped at 3,131 shillings per liter.
EWURA attributes this hike to increased import costs, with premiums for petrol and diesel rising by 3.58% and 4.35% respectively. However, there's some relief for kerosene users as import premiums for this product have dropped by 7.45% in Dar es Salaam. Additionally, Tanga and Mtwara ports recorded average decreases of 6.7% and 7.54% respectively in petrol and diesel import premiums.
Beyond import costs, EWURA explains that other factors such as the price of crude oil, transportation expenses, and exchange rates also contributed to the price adjustments.
