Overview of the role:

Our Cape Town team is responsible for all syndicated research on South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Cameroon, Angola, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Ghana, Tanzania and Uganda.

The team gets involved in many exciting activities such as client engagement, face to face research with industry players, PR including trade and international press, conference presentations and TV interview opportunities.

Each Analyst has, at any one time, various project-specific responsibilities as well as wider spheres of responsibility within the unit's global database projects. The role is a combination of directly conducting research and analysis for the finalisation of projects and later on, commissioning, controlling and editing the work of in country analysts based in other regional countries.

The successful applicant will need to be flexible, proactive and possess a strong sense of personal responsibility for the achievement of goals. Research experience with proven skills in research, interviewing, quantitative analysis, strategic report writing and engaging with clients is required.

This position will be placed into the Home & Tech: Consumer Appliances, Consumer Electronics, Home Care, Home and Garden, Tissue and Hygiene, Toys and Games industry vertical

Key responsibilities:

  • Secondary research, to gather published information;
  • Primary research;
  • Collating and analysing new research;
  • Report writing;
  • Client-facing responsibilities, which include to client queries, attending conferences, giving presentations etc.
  • Commissioning of research (will develop into this role);
  • Editing text and data;
  • Assessing and improving overall product quality;
  • Building research contacts and developing regional expertise.

Requirements

Skills/Proficiencies required:

  • Critical thinking
  • The ability to work independently and under pressure to tight deadlines
  • The ability to work in a team
  • Organisational skills in order to structure the workload in the best possible way
  • Numeracy, with an ability to interpret, analyse and present statistics in an interesting way
  • Good report writing skills and an excellent command of both written and spoken English
  • A confident manner and strong communication skills, both oral and written
