Description
Reporting to the Product Manager, we are looking for a Business Analyst in Cape Town. Business Analysis team exists to provide a structured and consistent platform for analysing business problems, engineering business requirements and translating these for our development teams to work with across our product range and for communicating to wider audience.
This team is at the heart of all new product development and ongoing industry updates, relied on by key stakeholders and end users throughout the company to deliver solutions that meet their needs and expectations.
Business Analysts will need to have excellent communication skills and organisational skills, have the ability to understand, gather and analyse business requirements and translate these into user stories, product specifications, and supporting artefacts. They should have fantastic attention to detail. The Business Analyst will collaborate with other Business Analysts, Product Managers and other key stakeholders at all levels across the company. They may be expected to work across a range of bespoke Euromonitor applications and websites.
Key responsibilities
- In conjunction with the rest of the Business Analysis team and Product Management team, act as bridge and liaison between the business and technology, translating needs and requirements into work items. Co-ordinate with relevant Lead Business Analyst to always stay on top of changes happening across the organization.
- By working hand in glove with UX designer, the Business Analysts will gather, understand and analyse requirements (Functional, Non-functional, Constraint’s and Risks) using meetings, interviews, existing document analysis, workshops, surveys and other initiatives. From this understanding, write clear high-quality requirements and user stories.
- Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish business requests from underlying needs and problems.
- Ability to select appropriate models and effectively create them to use as a communication medium for different levels of the organisation.
- Continuously engage stakeholders to ensure that all key parties agree that your understanding of requirements meets our business and commercial objectives.
- Successfully engage in multiple initiatives and projects simultaneously.
- Support testing and release aspects of requirement.
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders and end users, analyse and identify functional and non-functional requirements. Depending on product roadmap items, this may mean internal colleagues or external clients.
- Build and maintain documentation for end users, or identify key stakeholders who can do this, to ensure that all users, internal or external, have the information they need to use the systems we provide.
- Provide second and third line support on the products for which the Business Analyst is responsible, engaging with clients and/or colleagues to understand issues and take necessary steps towards fixing them.
- Understanding of Agile Scrum environment and knowledge of BDD from the perspective of incorporating it into Business Analysis deliverable.
Ability to constructively challenge the problem and the proposed solutions.
Work closely with the Software test engineers to write clear acceptance criteria and work with appropriate stakeholders to ensure that products meet requirements.
Requirements

- High ability to communicate: Oral and written fluency in English.
- High level of numeracy and computer literacy – including strong Excel skills.
- Excellent communication skills and organisational skills.

- Ability to identify issues and escalate at appropriate levels to mitigate associated risks.
- Tenacity and superb attention to detail.
- Strong understanding and working experience using SCRUM Agile methodology.
- Experience writing User Stories, Acceptance Criteria and create artefacts incl. ability to support written documents with visual models like Wireframes, Process and Flow charts, Specifications, Use case and Context Diagrams.
