In this year's Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE), at least 79.62 percent of applicants passed.
The National Examination Council of Tanzania (Necta) stated on Thursday, December 1, 2022, that a total of 1,073,402 candidates out of the 1,348,073 who took the PSLE this year.
The 2022 PSLE results were presented by Mr. Athumani Amasi, acting executive secretary of Necta. He stated that 558,825 females (78.91 percent) and 514,577 boys were among the successful candidates (80.41 percent).
"There were 907,802 qualified applicants in 2021, or 81.97 percent. Consequently, statistically, performance is down 2.35 percent even though there were 165,600 more successful applicants this year than there were in 2021 " - Amasi Said.
A total of 1,384,186 primary school students enrolled to take the exam this year, with 723,027 girls (or 52.23 percent) and 661,159 boys (or 47.77 percent) making up the majority of that group. 4,221 applicants, or 0. 30%, need special assistance.
Of the 1,350,881 candidates who registered, 1,350,881 (97.59%) took the test.
Girls made up 709,556 (98.14%) of them, while males made up 641,325 of them (97.00 percent).
According to Mr. Amasi, 33,305 candidates, or 2.41 percent, did not take the exam for a variety of reasons, including illness and absence. Of these, 13,471 girls and 19,834 boys were affected.
