TANESCO Error 77 : What is it and How to Remove it ? This error message occurs on Prepaid Meter Customer Interface Units ( CIUs) particularly those beginning with the Number 2421 or 2431, this normal occurs during recharge or when trying to check for Electricity Units Balance .
*WHAT CAUSES ERROR 77*
*Error 77* means that your meter on the
pole and your remote have no communication so electricity cannot be input via the CIU.
It often happens when you want to top up the electricity Units after the units
have been depleted, although sometimes it happens even with Units still present on the Pole meter.
*HOW TO REMOVE ERROR 77 FROM METERS BEGINNING WITH THE NUMBER 2421... or 2431...*
*HOW TO SOLVE ERROR 77 WHEN IT HAPPENS*
You need to make sure that there is electricity in your street and if your house does not have electricity, i.e. the unit has run out, put powerful batteries in your remote and then follow the following procedures
🔷Turn off all the switches in your house, *make sure they are all turned off*
🔷Turn on only one wall switch and plug in the remote then press zero(0) followed by your meter number and then again zero(0) followed by your meter number then press ok or enter..
*For example, your meter number is 24212345678 or 24312345678 You will do as follows *02421234567802412345678ENTER or 024312345678024312345678*
🔷After tapping on the 'ok' button it will write you *GOOD* now put your electricity as usual and you will get electricity.
In case if following the above procedure does not solve the TANESCO Error 77 problem , then call your Local TANESCO office , or the Nationwide Tanesco Call Center Number +255 748 550 000 ( available on 24 Hours basis) and they will dispatch a technician to come and troubleshoot the problem at your Pole Meter.
Additional Note: The Error also seems to self clear after a power cut, once the power is restored ( i.e if a power cut occurs on your street & is restored ) . So always try to recharge your meter after power is restored whenever possible.
